Since 2012

Sheriff Woodruff and the staff of the sheriff's office
provide daily law enforcement throughout the county, specifically in
the unincorporated areas but often within the city limits
of LaGrange, Hogansville and West Point.

Our Mission

The primary mission of the Troup County Sheriff's Office is to maintain social order within prescribed ethical and constitutional limits while providing professional law enforcement services; to serve the citizens through dedication and cooperation in order to preserve the peace, maintain order and protect life and property by using proven law enforcement standards that respect individual dignity and rights; dedication to continuous improvement over all operations; integrity, commitment, safety, quality, pride.

To attain this, the Agency enforces the law in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing both the statutory and judicial limitations of police authority and the constitutional rights of all persons. The Agency recognizes that no law enforcement agency can operate at its maximum potential without supportive input from the citizens it serves. The Agency actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all citizens to reduce and limit the opportunities for crime and to facilitate the maximum use of resources.

Sheriff James Woodruff wants to again inform residents that the Troup County Sheriff’s Office does NOT solicit payment of fines via telephone and does NOT take payment of fines via Green Dot prepaid cards. The Sheriff is unaware of any other law enforcement agency, court or federal agency that does this form of transaction.

Sheriff Woodruff also advises anyone receiving this type of call to hang up and report it to your local law enforcement agency.
