Drug Unit

We now have three full time investigators answering citizen drug complaints. Sheriff Turner recently purchased another drug dog to assist with the detection of illegal drugs.

From January 1, 2002 through December 31, 2002, our drug unit arrested 678 people on various drug charges. These charges include illegal drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, LSD and methamphetamines. In 2001, twenty-three meth labs were discovered and destroyed. That number doubled in 2002, to forty-six meth labs. We contribute this increase in meth labs to the availability of the products used in manufacturing methamphetamines.

We continue to encourage the citizens of Troup County to help with the fight against illegal drugs.
